“僕はこのレコードをどうしても流行に乗り遅れてしまうような方に捧げようかと思う。多分に時代遅れぎみのこれらの詞曲は、けっしてかっこよくはなくなんともみじめな歌ばかりなのである。まわりには卒業していく方もあるのに、僕はいつも同じところを歩いているような気がしてならない。納得いかぬことばかりなのだ。絶対これだというのがなくいつもうじうじしている。別に、化粧品や紳士服のコマーシャルのようにキリリとした男性を望んではないから、まして卒業とは納得すればいいのだから、僕は一生卒業できないだろう。君も、一年前このような場所でこのような事を考えた。だからきっと一年後もこのような場所でこのような事を考えるだろう。逃げようと思えば思うほど追いかけられるのだし、それは求めれば求めるほど見失うようなもので、いつのまにか背中だけが巨人になっている。すくなくとも追いかけられるより追いかけるほうがステキだろう。
AはAの原因しか知らず、BはAの結果しか知らぬ。かも知れないしかも知れぬ。人々の会話はスピードを増し、納得したふりで事のみ運ばれていく。いったい僕たちはあれもこれも欲しいのだろうか。僕は、回転数を間違えたようなこれらの詞曲を、甘えたくて甘えたくてしょうもない人に聞いてもらいたい。”
